Why do we need environmental protection and what are the Ngo Working for Environment Protection in India?

Concerns about the environment are growing around the world as governments, scientists, and activists are witnessing first-hand the devastating effects of climate change. With increasing threats to the climate come dangers for us humans, too. Many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are taking proactive steps to help protect and heal natural areas, and us with it. Here’s a look into what NGOs are doing. Active citizens founded the following NGOs in recent years. These are just a few organizations that you should keep an eye on. With momentum, they can bring about change.

Mobius Foundation

Mobius Foundation is Top Ngo , established in 2015, is a eco friendly ngo working towards environmental sustainability ngo. In a world struggling with scarcity, the foundation believes that environmental conservation is the key to a better future and a greener planet. Mobius Foundation, as the name implies, is committed to sustainability, strengthening systems with empowering technologies and encouraging healthy behaviour. Their  principal focus is on education, environment, and population stabilisation that contribute to sustenance. Mobius has a vision to collaborate with a diverse range of public & civil partners to advance the cause & practices of sustainable consciousness amongst Indian citizens

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE)

Best ngo, established in 1980 and headquartered in New Delhi it’s main objective is to develop into an excellent resource centre with information — printed and visual — on sustainable development issues, which is possibly the best in India. It is a not-for-profit public interest research and advocacy organisation. It works as a think tank on environment-development issues in India, poor planning, climate shifts devastating India’s Sundarbans.

Clean Air Asia

This NGO working towards Environment for the likes of air pollution and its objective is to improve air quality and contribute to more livable and healthy cities. The focus will be on cities with high impact potential as well as the potential for leveraging wider change. It is aiming to work on the following:-

      • Be working with cities to implement concrete actions for measurable change.
      • Promote national and regional collaboration and learning to implement best practices and drive innovation.
      • Mobilize for change by communicating to and raise awareness of the public and key stakeholders including Non-Profit Organisation for Environmental Sustainability in relation to air quality.

Toxics Link

These people help in creating awareness about toxins prevalent in the environment around us. According to them, they are a group of people working together for environmental justice and freedom from toxins. They have taken it upon themselves to collect and share information about the sources and dangers of poisons in our environment and bodies, as well as clean and sustainable alternatives for India and the rest of the world. They have Film Festivals, Mass media awareness and much more.

Environics Trust

This Not for Profit Association conducts participatory research on issues of environmental and human behaviour and uses these outcomes for innovative community development programmes. Environics provides research and evaluation services to International, National, State and Local Institutions and directly works with marginalized communities such as those in the mountain regions, tribal and communities adversely affected by mining and industrialization.

Help Delhi Breathe

These guys have been trying to solve our air pollution crisis by ensuring that all Delhi citizens have proper information about this problem and how they can protect themselves. So they have been making people aware of the problems, solutions they can have for tackling air pollution by setting up different campaigns in Delhi and making people sign petitions to make people more aware of air pollution in specific and join hands with them in specific.

Google generally defines the environment as a ‘natural world being a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity.’ Thereby, it very evidently denotes that humans are ruining our environment and don’t quite care much for us or our future generations. But around the world there are a lot of organisations who are making people aware of the depleting environmental factors in addition to working for it.

Role of Non-Governmental Organisations in the Protection of Environment

Non-governmental organisations or NGOs are non-profit groups that function independently from the government, as the name suggests. There are NGOs that work nationally and internationally, towards humanitarian causes. There are also NGOs for environment protection, Greenpeace, Indian Environmental society (IES), and Mobius Foundation, to name a few of the top NGOs in India.

In today’s date, there is a growing need to adopt practices that can help to save the environment, and to work as quickly as possible. In such a scenario, NGOs play a very important role.

The government is the body that can make laws relating to environmental regulation and protection. But it is the non-governmental organisations that help fill the gaps and work on the implementation of these laws.

Eco ngo help in keeping the general public informed and in disseminating information to the people, relating to sustainable lifestyle practices that can help save and protect nature.

However, over the years the role of environment NGOs has branched out beyond this.

The government uses NGOs not only as agencies that will help them to implement their programs, but also as partners shaping policy and programs.

This way, the role of eco friendly ngo  has expanded over the years from helping the government in implementing laws, to being in the forefront of law formation itself.

The fundamental objective of NGOs for environment protection, therefore, is to act as catalysts and help bring about changes in people’s attitudes towards the environment and in their daily lifestyles in such a way that it reflects sustainable practices beneficial to nature.

The Mobius Foundation is one such NGO.

Mobius Foundation is a non-profit organisation, established in 2015, that works towards promoting environmental sustainability through sustainable solutions that enable communities to break longstanding practices which are detrimental to human existence on Earth.

In a world struggling with scarcity, the foundation believes that environmental conservation is the key to a better future and a greener planet.

The foundation, under the leadership of Mr. Pradip Burman, has undertaken various projects such as opening the World Environment School and Gyan Anant Vidyalaya, setting up eco toilets in Uttar Pradesh, and undertaking ‘Sanjeevani’ tree plantation drive.
